At Design for Vision we can offer various high index lenses for your eyewear. Our opticians will guide you so that you will choose the correct lens for your application. High index lenses, for the most part, are available in basically four different degrees high-density plastic. The higher the refractive index the thinner the lens. Also, the higher the refractive index, the more expensive lens becomes. Therefore, if your prescription is only mild you don't need more expensive lens. At Design for Vision we will advise you accordingly so you don't waste your money and get the best looking eyewear!

Once you purchase these lenses it is now up to the opticians to fabricate the high index lenses so that they properly hide the thickness within the eye wire of the frame. From what we see in most of the eyewear that we see made elsewhere, this detail is not being covered. Design for Vision has the knowledge, expertise, experience and cutting-edge machinery to make your lenses appear much thinner than you will get elsewhere.

An Anti reflective lens is designed to minimize the reflections that the lens surfaces themselves create. They do not reduce ambient glare like a polarized lens would. They will improve your night driving vision as headlights will reflect less off of your A/R lenses. 
In sunglass applications we coat the back side of the lenses only to reduce eye reflection. In addition, as in the photo & video above, the overall appearance of you eyeglasses is improved and people get alot better view of your eyes! It is simply a better look for you and your eyewear.

 Design For Vision has offered Anti reflective lenses since the 60's. Today's coatings are far superior to any we offered back then, but you have to make sure you are getting a major brand such as Crizal by Essilor, Hoya, Shamir or Zeis.  They hold up much better and offer added scratch resistance. The major brands are a bit more pricy, they are worth every penny! The cheap brands will begin to breakdown and peal in a matter of months and offer less scratch resistance and may not be UV protective.  If you are purchasing a bargain coating, you are not getting a good brand. In this case, it is definitely the old story...You get what you pay for!
