Most automobiles, these days, have a front windshield that is near 45° angle. Reflection at that angle, from the dashboard, can be a real problem. Polarized lenses will eliminate that reflection and you will have an unobstructed view through your windscreen. It is amazing how much clearer you will see and what a safer driver you will be! In addition, reflections and road glare are significantly reduced!

The term polarization or polarized is derived from the manufacturing process of these lenses.
Polarized lenses are actually two lenses laminated together at opposite poles with a tinted film between the two surfaces.                                                                     www.essilorusa.com                                                                        www.oakley.com

At Design For Vision and Sunglass Central you will get the proper advice and the correct fit!

Today, polarized lenses are available in many different colors and densities. The three most popular colors are; gray, brown and gray-green (G-15). Polarized lenses are also available in lighter tints and gradients. However, the effectiveness of the polarization is diminished in lighter colors.
Recently, Essilor and Transitions has developed a variable polarization lens that changes from light to dark called Transitions Vantage. The lens has had limited success since polarization is only effective when the lens gets dark and does not work behind the windshield of a vehicle. www.mauijim.com

At Design for Vision we can fabricate eyewear in your prescription in many colors of polarized lenses, in just about any frame you wish. We are your source for glasses for fishing, bicycle riding, motorcycle riding, golf and many other forms of sport sunglasses.

We also provide a polarized prescription in all the major sunglass brands such as Oakley, Maui Jim, Ray-Ban and more. Stop by any time in our locations in Morrisville, Langhorne, Jamison, Newtown and New Hope.

Anti Reflective Coating on your Lenses?

                                                         http://www.crizalusa.com/

Purchasing Anti Reflective lenses when ordering new eyewear at Design For Vision is a good decision. A good quality coating such as Crizal Avance will give you years of improved clarity and additional scratch resistance for the life of your prescription. Most all premium sunglasses now come standard with the coating in the back side of the lenses, validating its effectiveness. Additionally, they come with a scratch guarantee and block harmful UV light.

                                                          Crizal Informative Video

An Anti reflective lens is designed to minimize the reflections that the lens surfaces themselves create. They do not reduce ambient glare like a polarized lens would. They will improve your night driving vision as headlights will reflect less off of your A/R lenses.
In sunglass applications we coat the back side of the lenses only to reduce eye reflection. In addition, as in the photo & video above, the overall appearance of you eyeglasses is improved and people get alot better view of your eyes! It is simply a better look for you and your eyewear.
 www.designforvision.com

Design For Vision has offered Anti reflective lenses since the 60's. Today's coatings are far superior to any we offered back then, but you have to make sure you are getting a major brand such as Crizal by Essilor, Hoya, Shamir or Zeis.  They hold up much better and offer added scratch resistance. The major brands are a bit more pricy, they are worth every penny! The cheap brands will begin to breakdown and peal in a matter of months and offer less scratch resistance and may not be UV protective.  If you are purchasing a bargain coating, you are not getting a good brand. In this case, it is definitely the old story...You get what you pay for!

Design For Vision has locations to serve you in Morrisville Yardley area, Langhorne , Levittown, Newtown, New Hope and Jamison Doylestown Areas.

Proper Cleaning of Your Eyeglasses & Sunglasses

Cleaning your eyewear these days has become a little tricky. When choosing a liquid be very careful not to choose any solutions that contain Alcohol or Ammonia. Lens materials as well as their coating can react to these chemicals. After time, or even a single use, you may begin to lenses begin to show stress cracks or the coating begin to separate from the lenses. Therefore, some of the most common household glass cleaners should never be used!

Same is true for some of the frame materials used today. Alot of the most common Ray Ban sunglass frames will react adversely to an alcohol based cleaner. We have seen one application ruin a frame!

If you want to clean you glasses properly, a simple mixture of dish wash detergent and tap water works just fine....Remember to clean one lens at a time and dry them with a soft towel or good quality paper towel.     www.designforvision.com
